How to Use It

Fill a réelle® mesh wash pouch with 5–6 Lavé Nuts.

Toss it into your washing machine drum with clothes.

Wash normally (hot or cold water).

Reuse the same nuts for 5–6 loads, then compost and refill.

Lavé Nut Directions for Use
Lavé Nuts can be used in tepid water. For deeper cleansing results, warm water is best for releasing the saponin which is an all-natural cleansing and softening agent from the shells.
Note: Lavé Nuts may be reused appx 4-5x before composting.
tepid/ warm water directions:
Place 4-6 Lavé Nuts in the specifically designed réelle wash pouch and add it to your washing machine basin.
After each wash, remove the Lavé Nuts from the réelle wash pouch and lay them out to dry before reusing the nuts.
DEEP CLEAN laundry stripping directions:
Similar to brewing tea...
Boil appx 6 ounces of water. Place 4-6. Lavé Nuts inside the réelle wash pouch.
Use a heat-safe bowl and combine boiled water and the nut-filled réelle wash pouch.
Steep for appx 8-10 minutes. Add the entire contents of the bowl into your washing machine basin.
Add clothes and run a presoak or regular wash cycle for maximum cleaning results.

I was skeptical as to whether or not this would work and to my pleasant surprise they really do. With my daughters going back to school, I find myself saving some money as laundry never fails and I have to do several loads a week. Recommend getting these even if there are items that you want scented. This is effective and affordable.
I’ve been using Lave Nuts for awhile now, and I have to say I love the whole idea of it! It’s great for washing towels, sheets, jeans, and every day clothes. However, I’m a hairdresser and I wear a lot of black. So, I prefer using dark-depositing liquid detergent for my work clothes. It’s nice having the option of using both. I definitely recommend Lave Nuts for general everyday items. Plus, the money saved not buying liquid detergent all the time is a plus.
TLDR: it gets the job done! But yes, there are buts involved. Whenever switching to natural, zero waste (or well, less waste), non-toxic products, there will be changes and adjustments! First and foremost, the nuts themselves do have an interesting smell. However that "smell" (not to be confused with a fragrance), does not transfer to the garments at all. I did a load of towels and a load of clothes, both seemed to come out just as clear and fresh as if I used a big box label brand detergent. At the end of the day, that's all we're looking for! I did not notice any change in texture in my clothing or towels either, which is very very important.
I also did a load of laundry in cold water. This requires an extra step, but it does make a lot of sense. So don't let that stop you or prevent you from trying these out because it's just 1 simple extra step to get there.
Anyways, the package has all of the instructions you need. It's simple and easy to use. I highly recommend for anyone looking to transition as many parts of their lives to non-toxic, zero ( or less!) waste.
I've been looking for a sustainable laundry detergent option. I've tried the laundry sheets and bulk fill station detergents in order to reduce single use plastic. I love that from packaging to the product that Lave Nuts are compostable. The Lave nuts produced clean and fresh sheets. And they didn't irritate my very sensitive skin. However, I don't consistently wash my clothes on hot, so in order to activate the Lave Nuts, you must steep in hot water and add to your cold wash cycle. This extra step is not ideal when washing multiple loads in a day. It slows down the process.
Pleasantly surprised with the product. I have never heard of the nuts before. So coming from someone that believes in sustainability I was looking forward to how this may work. It was easy to use. It seemed to get the clothes clean. It didn’t do too well with my whites, and I’m not sure if I like the unscented smell. But will definitely use it to see how it will handle farm smells & dirt.

I'm always looking for ways to cut down on waste, and I especially love easy switches that don't take a lot of thinking or routine change. These fit the bill! My clothes feel clean and so soft after I used them.

I love everything about this. I travel a lot, I now pack them in my suite case. So, if I need to do laundry, I’m set. I just use Lavé nuts. Then take them back with me. It’s the best idea ever. It’s environmentally friendly, from actual nature you know! It’s reusable, it’s travel friendly. So, it’s also cost effective! What is there not to love! Nothing. This is definitely the way of the future.

These are so cool!! I cant believe how easy they are to use. I really love that they're reusable, that definitely changed the game for me. I've been using natural homemade detergent for a long time now and it runs out just as fast as store bought. But these are gonna last me sooo long!!
